Silk scarves are very versatile. On an average walk down city streets, we see plenty of examples of a multitude of ways to utilize them. Admittedly, some women are more able to easily tie silk scarves in an amazing display of virtuosity. Many other women, however, can barely tie their own shoelaces. As a result, an effect intended to stun and amaze only stuns. The following instructions should help make the process a lot easier. It contains basic information on how to tie two of the more popular and chic styles.
1. The Neck Wrap
This style requires a lengthy silk scarf. It is simple making it perfect for beginners. The end result will resemble a turtleneck. In fact, it serves the same purpose – keeping the damp and chill out.
Take the silk scarf and place it to the nape of your neck. Make sure the two loose ends dangle equally in the front. Pass one end over the other then over the shoulders. The fabric will now sit comfortably touching your throat at the crossing point. Follow suit at the nape of the neck before passing the loose ends to the front. Keep repeating this process until you have used up all the material. To complete the look, tuck the final ends inside the material. This will secure it.
2. The Half Bow
The half bow, as the name indicates, will resemble half of a traditional style bow. This elegant knot work is predominantly effective at keeping you warm. It is similar, therefore, to the neck wrap.
Start by placing the middle of the scarf length touching your throat. Toss the two ends on top of your shoulders before placing the ends over each other at the nape of your neck. Next, draw the ends forward. Relax the scarf somewhat around your neck then fine-tune it. The result is one end will not be as long as the other one is.
Take the longer section of material and cross it over the shorter portion. Make sure you have a few inches between this and your throat. Hold onto the shorter piece of material before you place your hand between the gap formed and draw the section of longer material through it. This effectively doubles the fabric and tightens the bow. All you have to do is puff up the bow. It lies neatly against your neck. Now, all you need do is decide whether to wear it alongside your neck or in front of you throat.
