Do More than wear your Silk Scarf

Sometimes the prettiest of things can be used for something other than what we feel they should be. Painted silk shawls give of a radiance and serene feeling when worn but there are some other uses for silk shawls that can be useful within a house hold so that that same feeling can be felt throughout. Just to spice up your home or closet or anywhere; silk shawls can allow you to do this and still be tasteful.

1. Cover the opening to your closet with a silk shawl. This can be down with any silk fabric but its more resourceful to use something that you already have. Two pegs pinned at either side of the outer part of the opening of the closet will allow you to hang the shawl. Sometimes we just get bored with the old white doors of you closets and a painted silk shawl could do the trick.
2. Nice couch but its missing something; fling a printed shawl over either side. This gives off a sense off an elegant yet classy feel. There are several garments or fabrics we have around that either we have no more use for that can be used for something such as this.
3. Make your silk painted shawl art work, put it on the wall. If you in a apartment or rented home sometimes the rules limit our possibilities of the home décor that we wish to have in our homes. You can easily pin you silk shawl on your wall making it a focal point in your room. One way to do this is to pin it above the wall where your bed is. You can pin all for corners or to add a funky sleek feel you can use two pegs or three and let it drape across as you would a curtain.
4. Your backboard can be jazzed up just by adding a silk painted fabric. We don’t all have the money to purchase fanciful headboards with designs and/or fabrics. With a hot glue gun you can add a silk painted fabric to your headboard without having to go out to buy a whole new headboard.  The fabric could pick up accent colors in your room or can be the accent color in itself.
5. Decorate your chairs with silk and get that elegant feeling you’ve been searching for. Just like adding the fabric to the headboard adding scraps of your old silk or fabric that can be not using anymore or fabric that can be purchased at a Wal-mart or a thrift store. The best way to keep the fabric is a hot glue gun after making sure you have a smooth surface. Silk is light and can easily cover any other surface that is smooth. You could also cover tables or make a simple runner.
