There is nothing that many of us women like better than experimenting with clothes. Perhaps it takes us back to our childhoods and all those hours spent parading up and down in front of the mirror in our mom’s dresses and high heels, or maybe we just live in the secret hope of stumbling across some fabulous style that we could not possibly have dreamed up in a million years. Whichever is the case though, trying on different combinations of separates can be a really fun way to spend a miserable afternoon, and especially with a group of friends to give their expert opinions.
Of course, it is not just different combinations of clothes that can bring about a complete transformation of your look, but also the introduction of new accessories, or even wearing your accessories in different ways. Beautiful silk scarves and shawls, for example, can change the look of an outfit completely and in seconds, and they can be worn in so many different ways. So, next time you are in the mood for experimenting with your wardrobe, why not concentrate on trying different styles and then treat yourself to a range of these gorgeous accessories to coordinate with your outfits?
When you first reach for your collection of women’s silk scarves, probably your first inclination will be to start by trying different methods of tying them around your neck – and indeed there are numerous stunning effects that you can create in this way which will all add instant color and pizzazz, not to mention creating a look of sophistication. Long silk scarves in particular, however, can be used in lots of much more inventive ways to jazz up everything from the most casual to the smartest and most formal of outfits, and this is where the experimentation comes in.
If your closet contains any plain, simple shift dresses of any length, then try a long silk scarf under the bust to create an empire line or use it as a belt around the waist. Skirts and pants with belt loops can be given an instant facelift and a totally fresh look simply by threading the scarf through the loops and either tying at the front or to one side, or just leaving the ends to hang freely. If you are feeling really daring and need a new look for the beach or the night club, then try turning your silk scarf into a stunning halter-neck top, and don’t forget to try experimenting with different ways to use your fabulous silk scarf in your hair too.
Silk shawls and large square scarves are very worthwhile experimenting with too. Although, traditionally, shawls may have been worn around the shoulders, knotting one around the hips or waist over the top of a skirt can create a beautifully feminine layered look. The contrast of a chic, hand-painted silk scarf or shawl worn over faded or ripped jeans, meanwhile, will give a funky look which is ideal for younger wearers.
Let your imagination go wild and try experimenting with your fabulous accessories and then add to your collection for a different look for every day of the week.
