Silk for Curtains

September 15, 2010

Our surroundings are able to make us relax, get angry, become happy, become sad or even emotional feelings we cannot put into words. But in all we like to make the best out of what makes our home and its surroundings the best. We look for the mood or emotion we would like a room to create within colors and textures and majority of the time we can find that both colors and textures to match any mood that we want. We can have interior designers come in and assist but we can also have the luxury of watching the home and garden television network to guide us in making our homes livable and up to par with our needs and understanding. Although this is a very great way to find ideas we also need ideas to focus on specific parts of our homes that we would like to give a greater meaning or even allow it to make a difference. Window treatments can truly be the focal point within a room and allow visitors and even yourself to see and extreme difference in just one window covering.

Silk is a very elegant fabric. And like all textures it gives off a feeling and its color sets off a mood. With silk the mood varies, which is great for any home owner. Silk isn’t just meant to be worn on you but you windows as well. It does not have to be for a classy look or even a Victorian look that you’ve seen on television. Silk can essentially become the light and the sensual and comforting part of your room.

Silk scarves for women are elegant enough in class and appearance presently and added on to silk scarves for women is the thought of silk being more than just used for elegance and sheik apparel but for comfort and a different sense of fashion especially when worn by the younger women who love to express their own individuality within fashion realms seen and not seen. Silk scarves and shawls can look absolutely wonderful women as seen on womenclothingtoday.com but silk is a fabric just like any other and can create the same feeling and emotion worn on a window. Hanging silk curtains on your windows is just the beginning of what can be done to your home. Silk scarves are also made for windows as well as the curtain its self.

For example if you live in small apartment building where it is almost mandatory that you have blinds hung up; purchasing a rod from a department store for $10-$15, depending on size and décor, place it above your blinds. Then go to your favorite fabric store. If you don’t have a favorite fabric store that carries silk fabric or something very similar to, Wal-Mart and JoAnne’s are stores that have a lot of choice fabric. Simply twirling the fabric around the curtain rod as you would a string around a pencil but loosely so that some of the loops fall you’ll have created a great window treatment. If you are still unsure about how to twirl the fabric along the curtain rod simply imagine a tether ball going around a pole. Think of the cord that holds the ball as it spirals around. You want your fabric to have the same effect only the loops will be loose to your approval allowing the fabric to hang. You can enjoy your window treatment and simply enjoy the new mood that silk can create.
