Black Pashmina for the Perfect Goth Look

May 6, 2011

It is common to misunderstand some statements of fashion. This is certainly true of the Goth look. Many individuals focus on the overall appearance of black: makeup, hair, clothing. These characteristics are often interpreted as being both threatening and unfeminine. Both assumptions are fallacies. Goth is a very feminine style suitable to woman of all body shapes and types.

The early origins of the current Goth fashion lie in the 19th century. In particular, the Victorian era spawned the style of dress common to many modern Goths. A close examination of this current look reveals a flouncing femininity consisting of lace and corsets. Jackets, dresses and tops often feature laced-up bodices. This is an overt sign of raging feminine sensuality. Moreover, the flow of many of these outfits indicates a definite homage to the old Victorian melodrama.

While some may question the make-up, they should consider the intricacies involved. Applying black eye-shadow, lipstick and white face paint requires a certain skill. When done correctly, the overall look can be smolderingly seductive. In fact, the overall art required to creating the Gothic look is superior to that demanded by everyday make-up application.

The style of clothing, never actually mainstream, does result in several issues. Finding affordable clothing as well as accessories can be difficult. Only a few select stores handle the line. As a result, many individuals look elsewhere to accomplishing the look. Some opt for a traditional approach relying on items consistent with the style. A perfect match to this philosophy is basic black scarves. A better approach sees purchasing an exquisite black pashmina shawl rendered in a Jacquard design. This style dates back to the early 19th century.

Such accessories also help to dispel another myth concerning the Goth style – cloned. In actuality, Goths have their own individual look. They pride themselves on being different from mainstream and other Goths. The choice of a black pashmina shawl or scarf adds a definitive and individualistic something. The flowing lines of this marvelously delicate, pure and soft accessory creates add an extra layer of femininity. Moreover, the versatility of a pashmina scarf or shawl, the ability to drape, tie or fold over many a body section, helps to create even more individual looks within the Goth style.

Wear it around your waist or create a hood by draping your entire head – the effect is the same. An eye-catching black pashmina makes the ideal ultimate touch for a remarkable Goth style.
