Silk Scarves and Shawls – The Essential Fashion Accessory for Students

March 31, 2011

No one is more often short of cash than students these days. High university fees leave parents scrambling to find the money for such things as tuition and living expenses. Sometimes, the only way a child can attend is by working. This does teach a valuable lesson in money management. It also forces them to live within a budget, theoretically. Yet to be chronically short of money can also be very frustrating.

Attending university is more than academics. It is also about expanding your social network and experiencing a different life. Yet, in these economic times, only the wealthy can truly not worry about such things as bills, rent, food costs and the money required for books. They also can enjoy a complete social life. Yet, is a student stretches her imagination, she can meet both financial and social obligations with ease.

Female students from late teens to early twenties face a dilemma. They remain conscious of the latest styles but cannot justify the money to remain a part of the fashion race. The lack of money makes it hard to afford casual school clothing let alone outfits for formal or special occasions. As a result, they need to find a creative way to fashion something new from everything old. One of the easiest and least expensive ways to accomplish this is by owning and applying an assortment of hand painted silk scarves and shawls.

It is essential to obtain equal value for the money you spend. If a college woman wants to look good but stay within budget, silk scarves and shawls are the only way to go. You can employ them in a wide variety of ways to cover different looks from casual to formal all year round. Wear one around your neck to keep the draft out as you sit in your cool apartment or layer them for those cooler or fashionable outings. Drape one artfully over a bikini or swimsuit for a beach getaway or swathe your shoulders with delicate silk as you step out to attend a formal ball or informal college party.

Make sure the accessory is an original – hand painted and hand dyed silk. The mass-produced silk scarves and shawls available in many retail outlets are of poorer quality and less versatile. Hand painted and hand dyed silk accessories are perfect for casual and formal events. They add style and elegance to all looks. Versatile, they can decorate your hair or act as a sarong. You can pair them with any outfit or piece of clothing, wearing them in various styles to revolutionize an otherwise common outfit.

While looking stylish on a budget may seem difficult, it is not insurmountable. What you need is a wonderful assortment of fabulous silk scarves and shawls. Add to this a little imagination, your own wardrobe, and combine.
