It seems far nicer to be working indoors when winter comes around. Yet, sometimes, it can be a might chilly for a secretary or receptionist forced to sit long hours in front of a computer or at a desk answering phones. Sitting there without doing any physical activity can be quite numbing. While the majority of individuals are comfortable in the “optimum” level of the heat thermostat, several are not. They are more sensitive to the cold. At home, many more suffer as they try to keep warm while trying to keep heating costs down.
It is rare that our carefully laid plans go exactly as intended. When life throws us a curve, it can result in welcome change, diversity and instant impulsive fun. Sometimes, however, the curve ball results in less pleasant experiences.
It does not matter what stage of the relationship you are in, a romantic weekend escape is something to savor. It provides a married couple with a break from the children – time to spend some quality time together. A weekend away is a change of scene for those living together but may mean something more for anyone just starting to establish a relationship.
When the New Year comes around, many women are first in line to make a resolution. For some, this year, they are really going to take off the extra weight. This year, they will get fit, quit smoking all together, relocate, apply for and get the right job and/or anything else we think we need to make our lives better or more complete. Yet, making a resolution is never easy. After the first few months, interest lags or, faced with the winter blahs, we just don’t have the energy.
Technology can be a wonderful thing. It makes many aspects of our life safer, cleaner and easier. Yet, modern technology can also be detrimental. Too often, people sit stolidly in front of the computer or television instead of taking an opportunity to enjoy the physical and natural world. Sometimes, we think about going outside, but the thought of getting cold puts an end to such thoughts. In the winter months, we tend to hibernate, waiting for the warmer days of spring and summer before we take walks and get involved in anything outdoors.

This is a period of instant gratification. Technology allows us to heat our rooms quickly. We simply turn up the thermostat and we are toasty. In fact, we may be heating the whole house so we can stay warm in a single room. The only problems of this are cost and the abuse of natural resources. Every time we “jack-up” the heat, we waste precious natural resources and deplete our bank accounts. In the past when resources were scarce as was the money to pay for them, people turned down the heat and added another layer of clothing.
Most people – even those lacking a religion, mark the coming of Easter in some fashion. This traditionally means Easter eggs and other delightful forms of chocolate. Yet, for those still focused on strictly maintaining their New Year’s resolution of a proper diet, with its avoidance of all sweets, a gift of chocolates may provide the most tempting of backsliding lures. Yet, even if dieting is not a concern, there is so much chocolate readily available, why not try for something different this year?
Between Christmas and New Years, it is hard to determine which holiday demands the most of you. At New Years, the invitations to parties hosted by friends and family are numerous. Some of the more glamorous events take place in a club, restaurant or fancy hotel. Others happen in a comfortable home setting.
The role of a female is a multiple one. We are girlfriends, partners, mothers, grandmothers and aunts. We act as supporters, cheerleaders, for our nearest and dearest. This takes many forms from cheering on the sidelines at a game to helping out at an event or doing homework. It is all about showing how much we care for the other people in our lives.
